Performance - Google Talk uses less memory than Gmail Notifier

    Hi,

I have been using Gmail Notifier for a couple of days and although its a nice app I think that it has a memory problem. It is constantly using 35mb of memory and that's, in my world, too much for merely checking to see if there's mail.

Google Talk also has a built in Gmail notification feature and it sits around 10mb memory when you're not chatting with it.

That's a crazy difference since the Google Talk is an IM and not just a notifier.

    Just thought I would share.

Sorry for the late reply, i went overseas.

You are right, i am not too sure about that i have to test that on XP. I tested it on my vista and it uses 14MB max.

Not sure if you have made any progress on this, but I have Gmail Notifier using 36MB of memory on my XP SP3 system. My trial period is about to expire and I would like to buy the multiple account version of your software. However, I am having second thoughts given the huge memory footprint for a fairly simple utility.

Do you expect to fix this problem soon?

Sorry, to make this change i think i might need to convert the code to .Net 3.5 and release it again and it might take some time.

    Thanks

Thanks for the response. I recently changed the settings to notify me for only one account instead of two and the memory footprint dropped from 36MB  to 22MB.

I really appreciate the functionality of the software so I think I will buy it and hope that you are able to reduce memory usage in the future.
